BLOO WORKSHOPS SPECIALIZED COURSES IN CONTEMPORARY PHOTOGRAPHY
Bloo Workshops was created to meet a growing demand, that of being able to learn and practice photography in a creative and high-quality, contemporary environment.
The past few decades has seen an immense growth in contemporary photography linked to the digital revolution with high camera sales and increasing artistic productions using digital formats. This has led to a strong interest and desire to learn more by people seeking an artistic career as well as those with a passion for photography. This interest can be seen at the ‘Bleu du ciel’ gallery founded in 1999 or the ‘Septembre de la Photographie’ a bi annual event held in September in Lyon with more than 60,000 visitors over 30 sites.
The main aim of Bloo Workshops is to provide an introduction to contemporary photography, with courses for beginners, more experienced amateurs and professionals. The course will guide students from the initial conception of an image to its display (there will be a collective exhibition of all work at the end of each semester). During the academic year 2009-2010, Bloo Workshops began offering courses drawing on the experience of its founders Gilles Verneret from the university of Savoie and Julien Guinand from the Fine Arts School in Lyon. Specialized workshops were also run by photographers of international repute including Eric Rondepierre and Elinor Carucci.
In September 2010 Bloo Workshops is continuing to expand with a complete programme, a vast overview of contemporary photography divided into 15 artistic workshops and a 4 module technical programme, once again with the participation of renowned French and international artists. All students successfully completing a programme of ten workshops will obtain a certificate of aptitude, giving them professional certification or helping them prepare for competitive entrance exams in photography institutes of learning.
Learning with Bloo Workshops in 2010-2011 means :
>> Giving everybody the chance to work on an image, no matter their starting level ( beginners, more experienced amateurs, students, professionals seeking to improve their skills in certain areas, people changing careers...)
>> Working with renowned photographers (including in 2010-2011 Elina Brotherus, Richard Dumas, Olivier Metzger, Christophe Bourguedieu, Denis Darzacq, Eric Rondepierre, Klavdij Sluban, Guillaume Herbaut…) as well as being assisted by two others for all technical questions.
>> Learning at your own pace, with flexible workshops lasting between 2 to 5 days and the technical programme lasting 4 months. Our different courses and programmes are adapted to your needs
>> Being part of a professional training programme whose cost can be covered by companies, or those on job training schemes (APRE, AFDAS), and obtaining a certificate of aptitude at the end of the course.
>> Displaying images worked on during the course at the collective exhibition in the gallery of Bloo Workshops
